Description
48V 17.5Ah Downtube E-Bike Battery – Lithium Battery Pack for Electric Bike Conversion Kits
The 48V 17.5Ah downtube battery is the standard choice for riders who want a compact, light and affordable battery, mounted directly on the frame tube. The 17.5Ah capacity (about 840Wh) is available as an option on the MTX 500W, 1000W and 1500W kits, and is suited to daily commuting and urban use.
The downtube design is made for mounting on the horizontal or diagonal tube of the frame, giving a compact, integrated look. The battery locks onto a mounting plate with a key lock system, which gives it extra protection against theft and stability during use.

Why the 13S configuration matters for daily use
The 13S configuration means 13 cells connected in series, each contributing about 3.6–4.2V to the total pack voltage. 48V is the most widespread standard for medium-power conversion kits, and the 17.5Ah capacity gives a good balance of range, weight and price for daily use.
BMS and cell protection
The battery has a 30A BMS, in a 13S7P configuration, which monitors in real time the voltage of each cell, the temperature and the operating current, preventing overcharge, excessive discharge and imbalance between cells. The casing is IP65 certified, protecting against light rain and splashes in normal use.
Which Kits It Is Optional On
MTX kits of 500W, 1000W and 1500W
A compact, light solution for daily commuting and urban use, with low running costs.
Standard Mid-Drive Conversions
Compatible with low-to-medium power mid-drive systems, suited to a first eBike conversion.
Affordable DIY Projects

Installation, Maintenance and Safety
Mounting Steps
- Fit the Polly DP9 plate to the diagonal tube, with the screws tightened evenly
- Push the 48V battery onto the plate until you hear the locking click
- Connect the XT60 plug, observing the polarity marked on it
- Switch the battery on and check that the 4 level LEDs respond to the button
Maintenance
- As the standard battery of the 48V line, avoid leaving it discharged below 20% between uses
- For breaks longer than 2–3 weeks, keep it at 40–60% capacity in a cool place
- Charging from zero takes 4–6 hours — keep an eye on the charger during this time
- Avoid temperatures below 0°C or above 40°C to protect the cells over the long term
48V 17.5Ah: what it covers and when to step up
It has 840 Wh and an estimated 60–80 km, on the 500W, 1000W and 1500W kits.
- 48V 22.5Ah downtube – 1080 Wh and 75–90 km estimated, same voltage
- conversion kits for bicycles – compare the powers and see which controller each needs
- eBike accessories – brackets, cables and connectors for installation
