In practice: torque sensing feels more natural (starts are smoother, assist fades out gradually when you stop pedalling), while cadence sensing feels more mechanical (assist kicks in and cuts out more abruptly).
Is 500W enough for hills?
Yes. 500W with 65N·m torque and a torque sensor is more than adequate for urban hills of 5–15%. The torque sensor ensures the motor delivers maximum output precisely when you need it most — when pedalling hardest going uphill. On gradients above 20%, a 750W motor like the C29-L has an advantage.
