AWD on an e-bike works the same way it does on a car: one motor drives the rear wheel, one drives the front. When the rear wheel loses grip on loose ground or steep inclines, the front motor kicks in to maintain traction. This matters enormously on sand, snow, mud and wet rock — surfaces where a single-motor fat bike spins out.

Samsung cells – why battery quality matters with two motors

Two motors drawing simultaneously from the battery can produce peak current spikes that generic cells handle poorly — leading to voltage sag, reduced range and premature cell degradation. Samsung cells are rated for higher continuous discharge currents and maintain voltage stability under dual-motor load. Over a 2–3 year usage period, Samsung cells degrade noticeably more slowly than generic alternatives at the same capacity.

Fat tyre pressure for different surfaces

Kenda 26×4.0” tyres have a wide operating pressure range. For hard surfaces (road, compacted gravel): 20–25 PSI for efficiency. For soft surfaces (sand, snow, mud): 8–12 PSI for maximum flotation. For mixed terrain: 15–18 PSI as a balanced setting. Lower pressure also improves grip on wet rock by increasing contact patch area.

Note: at 40kg, the F26 requires a rack or trailer for transport by car. Repeated manual lifting without a ramp is not recommended.

Can I run the F26 with only one motor active?
Yes. The Smart App allows you to select single-motor (rear) or dual-motor (AWD) mode. Single-motor mode extends range significantly and is useful for easy flat terrain where AWD is unnecessary. Dual-motor mode activates full 1500W output and AWD traction for demanding conditions.
Does AWD actually help on a fat bike, or is it just a marketing claim?
AWD has a measurable effect on loose or slippery surfaces. On deep sand, snow or wet clay, the rear motor alone will spin out. With the front motor adding traction, the bike pulls itself forward even when the rear wheel loses grip. On hard, dry surfaces the difference is less pronounced, but AWD improves hill-climbing traction on steep, loose inclines regardless of surface type.
What is the actual range in dual-motor mode?
In dual-motor mode at full power, expect 50–70km range depending on terrain and rider weight. The 100–120km figure is the maximum range achievable in single-motor mode at low assist. For off-road AWD riding, plan for approximately 60km between charges.
Is Samsung battery certification verifiable?
DUOTTS specifies Samsung cells for the F26 battery pack. While the cells themselves carry Samsung branding, the battery management system (BMS) and pack assembly are performed by DUOTTS. The Samsung cells provide known quality chemistry; the BMS determines how well those cells are managed in use.
