How to Choose the Right Power for Your Conversion Kit
Motor power determines speed, torque, battery consumption, and the type of terrain you can tackle. Here are the four main rider profiles across our range:
250W — Legal Urban Commuting
Public roads, gentle gradients, pedal assist at 25 km/h. Discreet, silent, no registration required in Romania and the EU.
500W — Suburban and Moderate Climbs
Gradients up to 15–18%, normal load. Nearly double the torque of the 250W, with firm acceleration off the line.
1000W — Real Performance and Cargo
Constant 5–20% gradients, 30–50 kg loads, technical trail riding. Continuous power — not a short-lived peak.
1500W / 2000W / 3000W — Custom Builds
Fat bike, technical off-road, extreme torque (up to 110 N.m). For advanced builders and off-road use only.
Direct-Drive Motor — What You Get in the MTX Kits
All All4eBikes kits use brushless gearless direct-drive motors — no gears, no moving mechanical parts, force transferred magnetically straight from the stator to the rotor. The advantages over geared hub motors are clear:
- Completely silent operation under 60 dB — at any power level
- Zero mechanical wear — a practically unlimited service life
- ~90.5% efficiency on the 3000W kit — less heat, more motion
- Sealed casing — weatherproof for year-round use in any conditions
- Dual-mode Hall/non-Hall controller — the motor keeps running even if the Hall sensors develop a fault
What Every Electric Bike Conversion Kit Includes
- Brushless gearless motor built into the rear rim (26", 27.5" or 29" depending on kit)
- Dual Hall/non-Hall controller — from 15A (250W) up to 60A (3000W), 18 MOSFETs
- SW900 LCD display with speed, battery level, total distance and PAS assist level
- Full-twist throttle with battery indicator
- 12-magnet PAS sensor for natural pedalling assistance
- Brake levers with cut-off sensor — automatic motor stop on braking
- Complete wiring harness and mounting hardware

Compatibility — Which Bikes Can Be Converted
Our kits are compatible with most standard bicycles with a 135mm quick-release rear axle. Check before ordering:
- Wheel size — 26", 27.5" or 29" (availability varies per kit)
- Rear axle type — 135mm quick-release (standard MTB, trekking, city bike)
- Brake type — disc or v-brake, both compatible with the levers included in the kit
- Frame space — for a downtube or triangle battery, depending on the format chosen
The 1500W, 2000W and 3000W kits include multi-voltage controllers (48V/52V/60V/72V), giving maximum flexibility when choosing a battery.
Recommended Battery for Your Kit
Every conversion kit needs a battery that matches its voltage and has enough capacity for the range you want. As a general guide: 250W–500W kit → 36V or 48V battery, minimum 15Ah; 1000W kit → 48V minimum 17.5Ah; 1500W–2000W kit → 52V; 3000W kit → 72V. Find the complete range of downtube and triangle Li-ion batteries, 36V to 72V, with integrated BMS and USB port, in the eBike Batteries category.

Frequently Asked Questions About eBike Conversion Kits
In Romania and most EU countries, the legal limit for pedal assistance is 250W and 25 km/h. The 250W kit falls within this limit and can be used on public roads without registration or a licence. Kits of 500W and above exceed this limit and are recommended for off-road use — check local regulations before riding on public roads.
The 1000W kit delivers double the continuous power of the 500W, with a stronger controller (25A vs 22A) and consistent performance on gradients from 5% up to 20%. The 500W kit is recommended for moderate climbs and commuting with a normal load. The 1000W kit is chosen by cargo riders (30–50 kg loads) and those with routes involving long, steep gradients.
Most kits are compatible with standard bicycles with a 135mm quick-release rear axle — MTB, trekking, city bike and fat bike. Check the wheel size (26", 27.5" or 29"), axle type, and brake type before ordering. Bicycles with a thru-axle are not compatible with standard kits.
For the 1000W kit we recommend a 48V battery with a minimum of 17.5Ah. The best option is the 48V 22.5Ah Downtube battery — real-world range of 60–90 km, 40A integrated BMS, and mounted on the down tube. Smaller capacities (15Ah) work but reduce range and can stress the BMS under sustained maximum power.
For rear hub motor kits (all kits in our range), installation takes an average of 2–4 hours and requires no special tools — standard Allen keys, an adjustable wrench, and a bike pump are enough. On our blog you will find a step-by-step installation guide with photos for every stage of the process.
The dual-mode controller runs primarily on Hall sensors for smooth start-up and precise throttle response. If the Hall sensors develop a fault, the controller automatically switches to non-Hall mode and the motor keeps running without interruption — you will not be stranded mid-route because of a sensor issue. An important difference compared to single-mode controllers.
