Description
500W MTX E-Bike Conversion Kit – Rear Hub Motor for 27.5" and 29"
The first step beyond the legal limit – the 500W brushless gearless direct-drive motor delivers nearly double the torque of the 250W, firm acceleration and sustained power on gradients up to 18%. A complete kit for a genuinely high-performance e-bike, ready to fit on 27.5" and 29" wheels with no frame modifications.
The 500W kit is the natural choice for riders who feel the limits of a 250W motor – steeper hills, headwinds, or mixed routes that demand extra power in reserve. Nearly double the torque of the base variant means firmer acceleration off the line and a feel much closer to a true performance e-bike, without giving up the quiet reliability of the direct-drive motor.

Compatibility
Direct-drive motor: no gears, no wear
The gearless direct-drive motor has no gears or moving mechanical parts – force is transferred magnetically straight from the stator to the rotor. Completely silent operation under 60 dB, zero mechanical wear and a practically unlimited service life. At 500W continuous power, the motor maintains consistent performance on gradients of 15–18%, under load and during extended use, with no thermal limiting. Sealed casing for use in any weather.
22A dual-mode controller – added reliability
The 48V 22A controller with 18 MOSFETs runs primarily on Hall sensors for smooth start-up and precise response. If the sensors fail, it automatically switches to non-Hall mode – the motor keeps running without interruption. The brake levers cut power to the motor instantly for safe stopping.
Who It's For
Hilly Commutes
For commuters with mixed routes or frequent climbs, where a 250W kit would start to feel underpowered.
Cargo Bikes
For riders carrying loads or using a cargo bike who need the extra torque on tap.
Upgrade from 250W
The natural next step for anyone wanting to upgrade from a 250W kit to more power and a firmer response.
Compatible with controllers and accessories from our range for custom configurations.
Recommended Battery
The kit is optimised for 48V, but also compatible with 36V/52V. We recommend the 48V 17.5Ah Downtube battery – mounted on the down tube, 50–80 km range, built-in USB port and key-lock security. Other compatible options are available in the eBike Batteries category.
Parts and Other Kits
Spare parts and accessories are available in the eBike Parts section. For a full comparison with the other power options, see the entire conversion kits range – from 250W up to 3000W.
