What is included in the 500W conversion kit

Complete 500W conversion kit — 9 components, ready to fit in 2–3 hours.

✓500W motor wheelBrushless gearless, double-wall MTX rim with 12G spokes, 27.5″ / 29″
✓Freewheel sprocketIncluded in the box
✓48V 22A controller18 MOSFETs, Hall and non-Hall
✓SW900 LCD displaySpeed, battery, assist levels
✓12-magnet PAS sensorFine-grained pedal assist
✓ThrottleTwist grip, with battery indicator
✓Brake levers — 2 pcsCut power to the motor
✓Torque arms — 2 pcsWith clamps, they take the torque off the axle
✓Wiring and hardwareConnectors, cable ties, bolts, fitting guide

Battery and charger are not included — you add them when ordering, from this kit's optional batteries: see the batteries. For fitting you only need ordinary tools (2.5 / 3 / 5 mm hex keys, an adjustable spanner and a screwdriver).

The 500W kit is the next step up from 250W: 50% more torque (30 N·m against 20 N·m), firm acceleration from a standstill and sustained power on gradients of up to 18%. The brushless gearless direct-drive motor has no gears to wear out and no brushes to replace — force is transmitted magnetically, straight from the stator into the rim. It is the right choice if you are feeling the limits of a 250W on hills, into a headwind or with luggage on the back.

In short: 500W means 30 N·m of torque, speeds of up to 35 km/h and a 22A controller with 18 MOSFETs.

A 22A controller with 18 MOSFETs

The controller supplied with this kit has 18 MOSFETs and a maximum current of 22A — that is where the firm acceleration comes from, along with the ability to sustain effort on long climbs without power dropping off. It normally works with the motor's Hall sensors, and if a sensor fails it switches automatically to non-Hall mode so you are not left stranded. The brake levers cut power to the motor instantly at the first touch.

Double-wall rim with 12G spokes

The MTX rim has a double alloy wall and thick 12G spokes, both chosen for the 30 N·m of torque coming out of the hub. At this power, a single-wall rim with thin spokes can deform over time. For the same reason the kit includes two torque arms: they clamp to the frame and take the load off the axle so it is not carried by the dropouts alone — recommended at 30 N·m and mandatory from 1000W.

What the 500W kit does best

Climbs with reserve

For gradients where a 250W runs out of reserve. You climb without forcing the pedals.

Cargo bikes

For riders carrying luggage or goods who need extra torque when pulling away.

Upgrading from 250W

The natural step if total weight goes over 85 kg or you face regular gradients above 10%.

Choosing the battery

The kit ships without a battery. When ordering you can add one of the batteries below, chosen for this kit, all with a key lock and charger included. You can see more in the e-bike batteries category.

Recommended batteries for this kit

500W or 1000W? When it is worth going up

500W comfortably covers climbs, moderate luggage and a total weight of up to around 110 kg. If you carry heavy loads regularly, face very steep gradients or want speed above 35 km/h, the 1000W kit is the next step. Remember that the extra power also calls for a battery to match, so budget for that cost too.

Warranty and spare parts

The motor carries a 24-month warranty and the electronic components 12 months. Spare parts and accessories are available in the eBike parts section. Compare every power option in the conversion kits category, from 250W up to 3000W.

Frequently asked questions about the 500W kit

Is the battery included in the kit?
No. The kit contains the complete electrical side – motor wheel, freewheel sprocket, 22A controller, SW900 display, PAS sensor, throttle, brake levers, two torque arms and wiring – but the battery and charger are bought separately. When ordering you can add one of the kit's optional batteries.
Do you offer kit installation in Bucharest?
Yes. We install kits bought from all4ebikes at our workshop in Bucharest, Sector 4. Installation takes 2–3 hours and is done by appointment only: message us on WhatsApp at +40 773 949 024 and we agree the day. We do not install kits bought from other sellers.
What total weight suits the 500W kit?
500W comfortably covers climbs, moderate luggage and a total weight (you plus the bike) of up to around 110 kg. If you regularly carry heavier loads or face very steep gradients, the 1000W kit is the next step.
How much more torque is there compared with the 250W kit?
The 500W kit develops a maximum of 30 N·m against 20 N·m for the 250W – 50% more. In practice that means a firmer start from a standstill and sustained power on gradients of 15–18%, where the 250W version starts asking for help from the pedals.
Can I use this kit with a 36V battery?
Yes, the controller accepts 36V, but the kit is optimised for 48V. At 36V you will have less torque and a lower top speed than the specifications state.
What range can I expect?
It depends on the battery, the total weight and the terrain. Based on our battery table, a 48V 17.5Ah battery (840 Wh) gives an estimated 60–80 km on a charge and a 48V 20Ah (960 Wh) 70–85 km, in mixed conditions. Higher consumption on climbs shortens the range compared with flat ground.
Does this kit work on 26″ wheels?
No. The 500W kit is available only for 27.5″ and 29″ wheels. For 26″ wheels, the 250W version offers that size.
How long does fitting take and what tools do I need?
On average 2–3 hours. Hex keys of 2.5, 3 and 5 mm, an adjustable spanner and a screwdriver are enough. You do not need any specialist workshop tools, and the fitting guide is included in the box.
